What counts as meeting the financial requirement?
A minimum income threshold, met through specified sources such as employment, savings or a combination of the two. We check which combination applies to your circumstances before anything is submitted.
We are not married — can I still apply?
Yes, as a partner, if you can evidence you have lived together in a relationship akin to marriage for the required period, or you are engaged with a firm intention to marry.
Can I apply from inside the UK?
Sometimes, depending on your current immigration status. We confirm whether you need to apply from overseas or can switch from within the UK before anything is prepared.
How long does a decision take?
Overseas applications are usually decided within 12 weeks; in-country switching applications can take longer. We give you the current published timescale for your route.
